Meditation Week by Week: 52 Meditations to Help You Grow in Peace and Awareness

Meditation has become a vital part of my life. At times, doing meditations which involve only focusing on the breath can feel somewhat boring. The weekly meditations I found in this book were really quite inspiring. Many of them helped me to look at the world around me more closely and examine things in a much more gentle and thoughtful way. They allowed me to get creative with my meditations. I loved that. This book is a great resource.

Visioning: 10 Steps to Designing the Life of Your Dreams

Visioning: 10 Steps to Designing the Life of Your Dreams
Sometimes I find I just don’t have the patience to go through
manifesting rituals such as affirmations, visualizations, etc. I
have to admit, I bought this book reluctantly. However, I gave it a
chance and did several of the exercises. I found the act of doing
things like making collages was very therapeutic. The other day, I found the first collage I made. I was surprised to see how many of the things I had desired back then did come into fruition. I think there’s at least a couple of exercises in this book that would appeal to you.

Byron Katie video

By chance I came across videos of a woman named Byron Katie. She does something she calls “The Work”. Her creation is a 4-question process you go through in order to challenge your thoughts. So often, we believe what we think is truth. When we see that, often times, it’s not, the experience can be incredibly freeing. Check out this video:

The Circle

The Circle

I love Laura Day’s book “Practical Intuition”. I was excited to read this one when it was first published. I bought a copy, looked through it and realized it didn’t feel quite right. For years it sat on the shelf. Then one day, I took it down and gave it another chance. I’ve been using the manifesting technique Day offers ever since. It’s simple. It’s beautiful and it works.

Start Where You Are : A Guide to Compassionate Living

Start Where You Are : A Guide to Compassionate Living

While I’m not a practicing Buddhist, there are many aspects of Buddhism I feel drawn to. From my experience, there are no better teachings on how to be more compassionate, kind and loving. About ten years ago, I checked out Pema Chodron’s audio program called “Awakening Compassion” from the library. This introduction to her changed my life. Since then, I have read nearly everything this Buddhist nun has written. I recommend “Start Where You Are…” as being one of her very best books.

Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live

Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live

For years, one of the things I was most concerned about was trying to define what my life purpose is. While I wasn’t able to define it in a sentence or two after reading this book, I found myself having a greater acceptance of my own uniqueness and knowing, even though my journey wasn’t going to play itself out in the same way it does for other people, it was important for me to honor my talents and passions.

But You Knew That Already: What a Psychic Can Teach You About Life

But You Knew That Already : What a Psychic Can Teach You About Life

I had never heard of Dougall Fraser before I found an excerpt of his book online. I still haven’t ever seen, or heard, him do a reading. But this book touched my heart. It was a personable and, more importantly, realistic memoir about how Dougall embraced, and honed, his psychic abilities. I learned so much from this book. You will enjoy it.
